Deadline for Löw’s World Cup squad announcement is set

National coach Joachim Loew will announce the preliminary squad of the national football team for the World Cup in Russia on 15 May. The “German Press Agency” learned after the workshop of the 32 World Cup participants in Sochi from the DFB delegation.

On the day before, a provisional list with a maximum of 35 players must be submitted to the world governing body FIFA. This list of names will not be published by FIFA on 14 May.

The caderbekanntgabe should take place on May 15 in the Dortmund football museum. On June 4, the nomination period for the final squad with 20 field players and three goalkeepers expires. The World Cup finals begin on 14 June.

Defending champion Germany will play their opening game against Mexico on 17 June in Moscow. Other opponents in the group stage are Sweden (23 June in Sochi) and South Korea (27 June in Kazan).
